Obama in Afrika

Obama bezoekt Ghana, foto: BBC.
staatshoofd
dan begint het grote praten
over wat zij zullen laten
en wat zij zullen doen
met de klappen van de slavendrijvers
hoe zij publiekelijk zullen huilen
om hun grappen
en hoe zij kanker zullen bestrijden
die door de oceaan in leven blijft

... hm, how cometh, Bertus, that both we'd be - how to put it mildly? ... sceptical whenever Mr Obama has been holding one of his specious speeches?

Well, I must admit, he is a relief after George Bush. But on the other hand, if one doesn't serve Corporate America, one can't be president of the USA.

It is true his election is a boost to the self respect of Africans. But i'm afraid that has nothing to do with his real policies, what ever they are or will be.

His biggest challenge is if he can really inspire his fellow countrymen to make a change for the better.

Agreed, Bertus, especially to your last sentence to which - after "he" - I'd add 'is willing and' (can ...) :)
    The peace of the night.
